Part 10/17:
The inescapable burden of guilt
Betrayers often believe they can bury guilt under distractions, ego, or justifications. Yet, the truth sneaks in during quiet nights or solitary moments. They remember the trust they shattered, the loyalty they betrayed, and the sacred bond they discarded. Over time, this guilt begins to affect their perceptions of themselves and their ability to genuinely connect with others. They become prisoners of their own conscience, questioning whether they deserve love, trust, or forgiveness.
Though they might attempt to rewrite their narrative—claiming innocence or necessity—the internal whisper of guilt never fully fades. It is a weight that consistently erodes their sense of self, leaving scars that are emotional and spiritual.
