Part 2/10:
GPT-3 has been trained on extensive internet data—hundreds of gigabytes—which includes countless discussions, debates, and opinions. Because of this, it has a surprisingly good ability to mimic different viewpoints, even if it doesn’t possess intrinsic beliefs. This capability raises the question: Can we use AI to discover where ideological fault lines lie?
The idea is that by modeling various perspectives—whether religious, scientific, political, or social—we can automate the process of identifying contentious issues, understanding points of disagreement, and even facilitating compromise. Ultimately, this approach aims to improve dialogue, especially on polarizing topics like creationism versus evolution, religion versus science, and political disputes.
