The debate extends further with questions like: Should AGI be autonomous, capable of independent goal creation, or reactive, merely responding to inputs? Many argue autonomy is essential, yet much of current AI development remains reactive. Another assumption is that AGI would learn spontaneously — akin to how humans do — but some are skeptical about whether spontaneous learning is necessary for general intelligence.

The contentious issue of consciousness arises as well: does AGI necessitate consciousness? Since consciousness is inherently subjective, it's nearly impossible to measure or define in machines, and thus remains an open question.
