Part 4/10:
When the author of Ask Not—who was deeply involved in documenting the case—met Martha's mother, Dorothy Moxley, she was invited into her beautifully kept apartment in Summit, New Jersey. There, Dorothy shared family photos that painted a picture of Martha’s life: images of her with her brother John, her father David, her mother, and even her beloved cat. Among these photos, those capturing Martha on a field trip to Washington D.C. stood out. Martha had loved visiting the nation's capital, photographing esteemed landmarks like the Supreme Court—an ironic coincidence, considering that her death would later become a symbol of national political and social upheaval.
