The author was honored to attend Dorothy’s memorial service in April, a heartfelt tribute to a woman who fought tirelessly to keep her daughter’s memory alive. In Dorothy’s home, portraits of Martha captured her youth and vitality—images that speak to the life that MJoxely tried to preserve even after her loss.
Dorothy’s life was profoundly affected by Martha’s death; she believed that the trauma contributed to her husband David’s early death from a heart attack. She herself died peacefully on Christmas Eve, a poignant symmetry given Martha’s murder had occurred during the holiday season—a symbolic closing chapter.
