A fascinating connection discussed is Carl Sagan’s idea that near-death experiences (NDEs) are essentially re-experiences of birth. Sagan hypothesized that the "light at the end of the tunnel" frequently reported in NDEs mirrors the light one perceives at the exit of the birth canal. This analogy suggests that the spiritual experiences reported during NDEs might be rooted in memory of the most fundamental human trauma—birth itself.
This perspective, however, is complemented by the belief that birth is not the only shared trauma. Some argue that another, perhaps more profound trauma occurs even earlier in life, shaping our consciousness and spiritual understanding.
