Part 2/5:
The Australian Cyber Security Center (ACSC) has issued a stark warning, urging organizations to act swiftly to protect their systems. This advisory follows observations by Microsoft of active attacks targeting on-premises SharePoint servers, with the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) confirming evidence of ongoing exploitation as early as Sunday.
Microsoft first launched SharePoint in 2001, and despite its age, it remains widely used across various sectors. An estimated 200,000 organizations continue to rely on either the on-premises version or the cloud-based service. However, cybersecurity experts emphasize that the vulnerability is particularly severe in legacy, on-premises deployments, which are more exposed to attack.
