Underlying this entire mess is the relentless pursuit of maximum profit. Companies prefer to justify layoffs under the veneer of AI efficiency, while in reality, they’re trimming costs, eliminating incompetence, and minimizing human oversight. The widespread use of AI as an excuse for downsizing is a classic case of corporations leveraging the latest buzzword to mask their true financial motives.
There’s also suspicion that some of the “AI layoffs” are strategic moves to weaken and buy out competitors, or to tighten corporate control over digital assets and data. This consolidation ultimately benefits the biggest players—Google, Amazon, Facebook—who are building their power bases in the digital ecosystem.
