Currently in beta for ChatGPT Plus and Teams users, Canvas will eventually be accessible to all users, including those on free plans, once the beta phase concludes. For now, access requires a paid subscription, either through ChatGPT Plus or Teams.
Automatic Detection & Manual Activation:
The Canvas interface can be activated manually by selecting it from the model picker or simply by typing "use Canvas" into the chat. Moreover, the platform is intelligent enough to recognize when Canvas would be beneficial—such as during lengthy writings or complex coding tasks—and will open the workspace automatically.
