The Reality Check
Ultimately, rebranding Midmarket as "Lower Haze" or similar does little to change the street-level reality. It may temporarily attract some interest and investment, but without addressing the core issues, these neighborhoods will continue to cycle through decline and superficial rebirth.
Real estate market figures reflect this bleak outlook. The vacancy rates, falling property values, and the departure of major corporations underscore how far the neighborhood still is from revival. The neighborhood's identity is rooted in its challenges, not its signage.
