Part 2/10:
This year, the Washington state legislature enacted what some are calling the largest tax hike in the state's history. These measures included a suite of new levies targeting businesses, services, gasoline, and capital gains, as well as what is colloquially known as an estate or "family business" tax. Smith openly criticized these measures in a speech at Olympia, stating, “They enacted the second largest tax increase at the same time as the largest one, fundamentally taxing every aspect of living and doing business in Washington.”
