Over recent years, San Francisco has witnessed a skyrocketing number of RVs lining its streets—nearly 500 large vehicles reportedly scattered across the city. Many of these RVs house families with children, including immigrant households and others who cannot afford traditional housing. The situation has become increasingly unsustainable, with some streets resembling war zones of encampments and abandoned vehicles.
City officials argue that this proliferation of large vehicles creates sanitation issues, obstructs sidewalks, and hampers street cleanliness. Mayor Daniel Lurie emphasized the need to “keep sidewalks clear and prevent trash buildup,” which has led to the new restrictions.
