The research demonstrated that blocking or eliminating IL-11 in mice resulted in a remarkable increase in both lifespan and healthspan. Specifically, mice treated in this way lived approximately 22% to 25% longer. But the benefits extended beyond longevity; genetically modified mice that did not produce IL-11 or were administered drugs to suppress it exhibited multiple enhanced health markers:
Lower rates of cancer
Stronger, more resilient muscles
Leaner body composition
Better fur condition
Reduced frailty
In essence, silencing IL-11 contributed to healthier, more robust aging.
