In the wake of her death, the Veracruz governor, Rosario Nale, confirmed arrests linked to the kidnapping—Victor Manuel N., known as "El Cholo," and Jose Eduardo N. These arrests, however, are for kidnapping only; charges of murder have not been formally applied, further highlighting how delayed or incomplete justice can be in such cases. The Mexican government has vowed to investigate and pursue those responsible, with the involvement of federal security agencies. Yet, skepticism remains widespread, given the deeply ingrained corruption and infiltration of organized crime within law enforcement institutions.
