However, the current understanding of AI technology suggests that such visions are more complicated than they might seem. AI systems are fundamentally reflections of the data they are trained on. They do not operate as neutral entities independent of human influence. Instead, AI models amass patterns based on the datasets they learn from, and these datasets inherently contain human biases and flaws.
In other words, AI isn't free from prejudice. If the data reflects prejudice, biases, or historical inequalities, the AI will replicate and even reinforce those same issues. As a result, while AI can assist and augment decision-making, it may not be the unbiased savior that some imagine.
