Part 4/10:
Currently, Netflix’s executives, including Ted Sarandos, have publicly stated they are not interested in linear broadcast channels or traditional cable networks. Their focus is squarely on acquiring studios and intellectual property rights—assets like DC Comics, The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and other franchises that can thrive on streaming platforms.
Netflix’s interest will likely materialize only if Zazlov manages to execute his plan to spin off Warner Brothers' cable channels—such as CNN, TBS, TNT—separating these assets from the core film and TV studio business. Once these linear properties are divested, Netflix is expected to be a fierce bidder for the remaining studio assets, which include valuable IPs that could fuel their streaming content catalog.
