Part 2/8:
At first glance, the five main Star Wars films—The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, Rogue One, Solo, and The Rise of Skywalker—appear profitable when considering gross box office figures. However, a closer examination of the production costs, tax credits, and marketing reveals a different narrative.
For instance, The Force Awakens cost approximately $638.9 million to produce, with around $103.6 million in tax credits, reducing the net production expense to about $535 million. Similarly, The Last Jedi had initial costs of $414 million, dropping to roughly $343 million after tax incentives. Rogue One cost about $327 million initially, which was lowered to $271 million with credits, and Solo came in at nearly $365.7 million, reduced to about $300 million.
