Adding to the controversy is the question of whether the film will feature Mara Jade, the iconic Redhead character often speculated to be the Force-sensitive Jedi survivor or potential love interest for Luke Skywalker. Though currently unconfirmed, her possible appearance would connect the story to the expanded universe, and possibly set up a new subplot involving her relationship with Rey or other characters.
