The latest "Fantastic Four" movie is a case in point. It was expected to reboot the beloved franchise, but it only managed $57 million globally, a significant disappointment compared to previous Marvel blockbusters. Its performance is 50% below the Phase 3 average, which itself was declining.
Earlier phases consistently produced blockbuster hits, with Phase 1 averaging around $635 million per film, Phase 2 reaching $878 million, and Phase 3 soaring to an average of $1.2 billion. These numbers, however, have plummeted with Phase 4 and 5, with recent averages dropping below $500 million, further accelerated by inflation-adjusted ticket prices and shifting consumer interests.
