Most of these operatives are young recruits from North Korea’s technical colleges, assigned to teams that run dozens of jobs simultaneously. They send the earnings back to the regime, sometimes through middlemen in the U.S., who facilitate the process by holding the physical hardware and connecting remotely. Many of these operatives are unaware of the true extent of what they’re participating in, believing they are simply earning a paycheck.
