Though much of the current activity appears to be driven by straightforward financial motives—funding North Korea’s nuclear ambitions—there are deeper concerns. The same channels used for earning money could, in the future, serve more strategic and harmful purposes:
- Access to Sensitive Data: Once insider access is achieved, operatives could target critical infrastructure, defense contractors, or government agencies.
