Part 4/15:
Reservoir levels at the crucial dams near Tehran—Air Kabir, L Mloo, and Latan—have plummeted to historic lows. The reservoirs, which traditionally hold nearly 618 million cubic meters of water, have dwindled to a mere 258 million by September 2025. The Latan Dam, which once held about 95 million cubic meters, now contains just about 9 million, a decline of over 90%. Underground aquifers, heavily overdrawn for decades, are collapsing, with subsidence rates skyrocketing—up to 31 cm per year in some places—threatening infrastructure integrity and urban stability.
