The streaming service has faced significant hurdles in India—one of the world's most competitive and price-sensitive markets. While Disney+ Hot Star had garnered substantial viewership, its revenue per user was modest—around seven cents per month—compared to over six dollars per user in the U.S. Disney's failure to recapture streaming rights for the IPL's Indian broadcast feed further hamstrung its ability to grow revenue through digital offerings.
