This approach enables stakeholders to better assess the contributions of each segment, understand profitability, and evaluate the health of Disney's various revenue streams.
The New Segmentation Structure
The revamped reporting divides Disney's business into three main segments:
- Entertainment: Encompasses linear networks (ABC, Disney Channel, FX, National Geographic, etc.), content sales, licensing, and production services like ILM and Skywalker Sound. It now explicitly reflects the value of intellectual property (IP) licensing, merchandising, and content distribution.
