Roughly ten days ago, a major dispute erupted when Disney demanded higher fees from Charter Spectrum and other cable providers to carry its channels. Specifically, Disney sought to increase fees from the existing approximately $9 per month per subscriber — fees already embedded in cable bills — to a much higher rate. Spectrum, however, refused to agree to these demands unless Disney offered additional value to consumers, such as free access to Disney+ and ESPN+ at no extra charge.
