Financially, Disney’s Star Wars endeavors under Kennedy have not been as successful as hoped since the franchise’s acquisition in 2012. While The Mandalorian and some merchandise sales continue to perform well, many subsequent projects have underwhelmed both critically and commercially.
Kennedy’s leadership, which critics argue is driven by personal ideology rather than profit, has coincided with a decline in fan enthusiasm. The focus on diversity and inclusion appears to have come at the expense of the storytelling that originally made Star Wars a cultural phenomenon.
