In the exchange televised during the hearing, the physician was asked whether he had ever been told to lie about the president's health, as well as whether he believed Biden was ever unfit to perform his duties. The doctor responded, "On the advice of counsel, I must respectfully decline to answer," citing the Fifth Amendment and patient-physician privilege. Most notably, when asked if Biden was asked to lie about his health, the doctor again invoked his rights, suggesting that some lines of questioning crossed legal boundaries.
