This cycle is inherently infinite—there’s always another gesture, another effort required to satisfy the continuous craving for happiness. The danger here is that both partners risk turning into "happiness junkies", constantly chasing after a fleeting emotion that can never truly be attained.
When satisfaction is not achieved, the tendency is to blame the other person, believing they are responsible for the dissatisfaction. This mindset can erode trust and foster resentment, making the pursuit of happiness even more difficult.
