Michael begins by recounting his entrepreneurial journey starting in 1989. After launching and taking public various companies, he hit a phase of success in the business intelligence realm, notably from 1998 to 2008, with ventures like MicroStrategy. By 2008, having achieved considerable success, he sought new ways to create value, launching multiple startups—Alarm.com, Angel.com, Ushar.com, among others—but found many did not reach significant scale or commercialization.
