Many women are attracted to emotionally unavailable men—often in the guise of bad boys—because of internalized feelings of inadequacy. If past childhood experiences included neglect or rejection, the subconscious may seek partners who validate these wounds by proving that they are indeed undeserving of unconditional love. The toxic pattern becomes a cycle of seeking validation from someone who is inherently incapable of giving it entirely.
Furthermore, some women tend to date above their perceived level or above their self-worth, driven by a desire to prove their worth or to heal the inner child’s wounds. This often results in choosing partners who are unresponsive or unavailable, perpetuating feelings of unworthiness and further confirming the belief that love must be earned or fought for.
