Part 7/13:
The Mice Galaxies are a pair of interacting spiral galaxies, notable for their long stellar and gas tails reminiscent of mice's tails. Situated about 290 million light-years from Earth, these galaxies are currently engaging in a gravitational dance that will eventually merge them into a single, larger galaxy—a process expected to take hundreds of millions of years.
Interestingly, within the Hubble image, there appears to be an extra galaxy just above the Mice Galaxies. However, further investigation suggests this might be a mistake, perhaps an artifact resulting from a "trigger-happy" use of image editing tools. Regardless, the main pair exhibits dramatic evidence of the complex mechanics of galactic collision.
