Jupiter orbits the Sun at an average distance of about 778 million kilometers (5.2 astronomical units) and completes an orbit roughly every 12 Earth years. Its axial tilt is minimal—only about 3 degrees—meaning it experiences negligible seasonal variation.
However, the planet spins at an astonishing speed, completing a rotation in approximately 10 hours. Due to its gaseous nature, different parts of the planet rotate at slightly different rates—poles take about five minutes longer than the equator—creating intense atmospheric turbulence.
