Part 11/13:
Shifting gears, the conversation moved toward the current fascination with true crime documentaries and stories involving murderers. Netflix and other streaming platforms have found an almost infallible formula: produce content that explores serial killers, crime stories, and tragic events, and audiences will watch in droves.
One example discussed was the recent obsession with the Titan submersible tragedy. The group's reckless decisions and delusional mindset highlighted human folly, making for compelling, if horrifying, content. The popularity of these stories hinges on our innate morbid curiosity, a desire to understand how such tragedies unfold, and perhaps—as some pointed out—to learn what went wrong so we can avoid similar fates.
