Part 2/12:
Franchise Deterioration and Overexplanation
Many on the panel agree that Predator: Badlands embodies everything wrong with modern franchise movies. It tries to flesh out a detailed backstory—explaining the Predator’s race, motivations, and homeworld—where once those things were left mysterious to fuel intrigue. The inclusion of exposition-heavy dialogue, unnecessary emotional baggage, and CGI overload strips the franchise of its original mystique. The Predator, once a stealthy, almost supernatural hunter, is now portrayed as a talkative, overly emotional being, losing its alien, terrifying quality.
