His appearance—overweight, balding—defies conventional leading-man expectations, but this very realism makes his transformation more authentic and compelling. There are no green screens or CGI tricks; the movie appears to have been filmed on location, which adds a layer of gritty realism and immersion. The gruelling filming conditions—wading through icy rivers and climbing rocky slopes—must have been arduous, but the resulting cinematography is stunning, capturing Siberia’s bleak beauty.
