Part 5/9:
The dialogue takes an intriguing turn as participants discuss the extraordinary career of Sir Adrien Carton Duvart, one of the most wounded and resilient soldiers in history. Duvart’s service in multiple major wars—from the Boer War to World War I and World War II—was marked by a litany of injuries: bullet wounds to vital organs, loss of an eye and a hand, and surviving two plane crashes. His dedication to the fight was so intense that he tore off his mangled fingers himself to stay in combat, and he repeatedly escaped prisoner-of-war camps, including disguising himself as an Italian peasant and evading recapture for days.
