The number of women working as delivery riders surged from 500,000 in 2022 to over 700,000 in 2024—a 35% increase in just two years. By mid-2025, women comprised nearly a quarter (24%) of China's 14 million total ride-share drivers, up sharply from less than 5% before 2020.
