In one particularly memorable scene, Sonia and her allies are preparing for a gladiatorial combat, with dialogue that includes absurd references like preferring an "uncut gem" over a "polished jewel." The gladiator arena itself is a chaotic mess—snow on a sandy battlefield, a forest that looks more like a garden with a few colorful plants, and a giant cyclops that gets unleashed and then forgotten about mid-battle.
The film is riddled with scenes that serve no purpose, such as a horse bursting through a gate in slow motion only to cut away just before anything interesting occurs. Its attempt at depicting a magical realm is so poorly realized that viewers are left wondering what the filmmakers were intending to show.
