Part 6/8:
Flaws and Room for Improvement
At just over two hours, Primitive War feels somewhat overlong, with much of its runtime dedicated to drawn-out montages, repetitive conversations, and lengthy travel scenes that could have been trimmed for pacing. The cast, while enthusiastic, is a mixed bag—some performances border on hammy, others bring a more serious tone, resulting in an uneven viewing experience.
Character development suffers from the crowded ensemble; some characters are introduced so late that they feel out of place, while others don’t get enough time to breathe. These issues, however, are forgiveable within the context of a movie that prioritizes fun over finesse.
