A prominent critique is how much Alien Earth borrows from Blade Runner, to the point of feeling like a crossover. Reference points like the red-headed robot touching her eyes and an Asian character with distinct eye makeup evoke Blade Runner’s gritty, neon-lit aesthetic. Sound design and general tone even seem lifted wholesale, giving the impression that the show is trying to emulate the cyberpunk classic but failing to embed its own identity into the story.
