Part 10/14:
The film’s title, Weapons, symbolizes both literal weapons—guns, knives—and figurative weapons—grief, guilt, systemic failure—that individuals and communities wield. The narrative explores how trauma turns people into “weapons” of destruction, influenced by external forces beyond their control yet responsible for their choices.
Several perspectives highlight how the community's response to tragedy is conflicted and layered. From the first chapter's teacher’s viewpoint, the collective blame game reveals the irony and tragedy of community hysteria. Conversely, from Josh Brolin’s character’s point of view, personal guilt and grief drive his erratic decisions—feeling like a weapon himself, locked onto his obsession with his missing son.
