Visuals and Production: Gorgeous but Wasteful
While the dialogue and storytelling falter, the panel concedes the series’ visual effects and set design are top-tier. Some shots resemble high-budget movies, with elaborate spaceship interiors and detailed environments. Yet, these visual accomplishments seem to be a shiny veneer over a fundamentally flawed story.
The budget is estimated at over $250 million for just eight episodes — an astronomical figure that accentuates the disparity between visual splendor and writing mediocrity. The creators clearly spent money on effects but failed to craft compelling characters or plot cohesion, leading to scenes that look impressive but make little narrative sense.
