One of the most glaring issues is the decision to cast children—or rather, adults in synthetic bodies with childlike minds—into roles that demand maturity. This "Peter Pan" aesthetic is relentless; the characters are physically strong and fast, but mentally and emotionally juvenile.

The protagonist, Wendy—who is obsessed with her brother and reminiscent of a Disney character—stages a rescue effort, despite the fact that the characters lack proper training, experience, or even basic composure under stress. Their reactions to terrifying situations—freaking out at blood, panicking when encountering aliens—are inconsistent with the hardened demeanor expected of space explorers.
