Part 10/12:

Casting choices exacerbate these problems. The cast skews young, with most actors under 35, and lack the gravitas necessary to portray leaders, scientists, or soldiers convincingly. Veteran actors or characters with authority are notably absent, replaced with superficially diverse but emotionally flat characters.

Timothy Oliphant's character, intended as a seasoned authority figure, comes off underwhelming and forgettable. The scientists involved exhibit juvenile humor, such as making crude jokes about sperm count, undermining the seriousness of the narrative. Even the supposed "combat" scenarios lack any real tension or stakes, further highlighting the series' inability to establish an immersive or compelling universe.
