Simon vividly recalls discovering a shot immobilized elephant that was still panicked and writhing in pain. What followed was an appalling act of barbarity: someone using a chainsaw to remove the elephant’s face—cutting through the eyes and nose while it was still alive, screaming and kicking. This graphic account highlights the gruesome cruelty involved in modern poaching, driven by greed and desperation.
Simon emphasizes, "Imagine someone standing atop a massive beast, crying and screaming, being brutally cut apart—all for the sake of ivory or trophies. These are the tragedies we are trying to stop, but it’s a war rooted in corruption."
