CT Fletcher emphasized that in combat sports, and by extension in life, toughness often trumps natural ability. He recounted watching fighters where one may be far more skilled but continuously gets beaten because the opponent simply refuses to give up. These fighters, despite taking brutal hits, push through because they are willing to endure pain and keep coming—whether through submission, knockout, or chokeout—until victory or exhaustion.
"You can always appreciate somebody who’s going to give you 100%," Fletcher said. This relentless attitude makes fighters fan favorites, regardless of the final scoreboard. It’s about the heart and the willingness to go the distance—in training, in a fight, or in life’s challenges.
