Nostalgia for the 80s and 90s
The nostalgic pull towards the 80s and 90s is palpable. Younger viewers, who did not grow up during those decades, nonetheless find themselves captivated by the simpler times these shows represent. For example, references to Northern Exposure, Friends, and Gilmore Girls highlight how these series remain popular. Interestingly, many of these shows are "reclaimed" not because they are new but because they evoke a sense of comfort and familiarity absent from contemporary productions.
