The core argument challenges the idea that the joy of white queer people is an act of resistance. Instead, it suggests that:
"Your joy is not resistance; in fact, your joy may have contributed to the conditions from which resistance has to emerge."
White privilege, systemic oppression, and historical marginalization have often perpetuated inequalities that marginalized communities must actively resist. When privileged groups celebrate their happiness without acknowledging this context, it risks minimizing the struggles of those still fighting for basic rights and acceptance.
