Over the past year, Marvel's track record at the box office has been underwhelming. Multiple releases in 2025, including Captain America: Black Brave New World, Fantastic Four, and Thunderbolt, failed to hit billion-dollar marks and, more troublingly, lost money. This string of failures has drained the enthusiasm that once fueled Marvel’s cinematic universe.
The studio’s previous successes seem distant, and there's a palpable lack of early energy or confidence heading into Doomsday. Given the enormous budget expected to be allocated to this film, the stakes are high. If Marvel cannot turn a substantial profit, it could signify deeper financial troubles for the franchise.
