Lauren Hissrich, the season’s showrunner, openly admitted that Liam Hemsworth’s Geralt would differ markedly from his predecessor—less stoic, more emotional, and arguably more humorous.
This deviation sparked immediate backlash, as fans argued that it fundamentally betrayed the character's essence as defined by the original Witcher lore. Geralt’s stoicism, dry humor, and moral code are central to his identity; to alter that significantly felt like a betrayal, especially considering fans had already been disillusioned by the recasting and tone changes.
